Hetero-print: A holistic approach to transfer-printing for heterogeneous integration in manufacturing

heteroprint_logo_rgb_hurtmold_edited_edi

The ambition of Hetero-print is to deliver micro- and nano-transfer printing (μ-TP) – a high-precision
mechanical pick-and-place assembly technique utilising the adhesive properties of soft stamps – in new ‘active stamp’ formats for the versatile and scalable manufacture of heterogeneous materials, structures and devices. In achieving this, we will introduce significant new capabilities for the manufacture of electronic, photonic, microfluidic, microelectromechanical (MEMS) and other systems, which complement and are synergistic with those of established semiconductor mass-manufacturing methods (in which the team has leading expertise) including epitaxy, vacuum deposition and solution processing.

Hetero-print is an EPSRC funded 5 year Programme Grant that brings together experts from the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Manchester, Sheffield and Cambridge.
